Dairy farmers produce more milk worldwide.
According to a FAO forecast, global milk production is expected to increase by 1.0% in the year 2025. The biggest growth is expected in Asia, as reported by the ZMB.
The production of beef in the USA has significantly declined. In 2023, there was a sharp drop in production. The main reason given for this is the massive reduction in the American cattle population.
Due to longer drought periods and a resulting shortage of basic animal feed, many US farmers got rid of their cattle. Even after the decline, the amount of beef produced remained at a low level. This was reported by the AMI.
For the current year, a further 1% reduction in the amount of beef produced in the USA is expected compared to 2024. Nevertheless, the USA remains the largest beef-producing country, and is one of the biggest exporters and importers of beef worldwide.
As a result of the low domestic production, US exports were reduced, while imports were expanded. These imports largely come from Australia, Canada, and Brazil, and are expected to continue to increase in 2025. On the consumption side, per capita beef consumption is projected to stabilize this year at the previous year's level of 25.2 kg.
