Case IH announces updates for its Optum tractors. These are not groundbreaking, but still worth taking a look at.
Case IH announces innovations for its Optum tractors. The significance of the three innovations is limited, but for Optum drivers and those who aspire to be, it is worth taking a look at the changes.
The tractor brand Case IH, like New Holland and Steyr, belongs to the CNH Group. There are three innovations for the Case IH Optum series. These mainly concern operation and telematics functions. We will explain the details. Also interesting: Is this the Claas Axion 9? Secret tractor prototype circulating on the internet.
This is the Optum series by Case IH.
Ten years ago, Case IH introduced its Optum tractor series. They were the first models to feature aggressive hood design. With around 300 hp (up to 340 hp), the large tractors are popular among contracting companies. Case IH offers them as Optum 270, 300, and 340 CVXDrive. CVXDrive is the in-house continuously variable transmission. With a long wheelbase and a weight of 11.5 tons, the tractors compete against the Fendt 728 Vario or the John Deere 7R270.
Case IH Optum: New hydraulic function on the joystick.
The Optum tractors always come with the armrest and the multifunction joystick, called the Case IH Multicontroller. For the first time, it is now possible for the driver to proportionally control the front and rear hydraulics on the joystick. Whether this is purely a new function integrated via software or if the multifunction joystick has been changed, Case IH does not provide details. Unfortunately, Case IH also does not release a photo of it. The joystick functions can be adjusted via the touchscreen display (Case IH calls it Pro 1200).
Tractors fully loaded: Now there are equipment packages.
Case IH offers three pre-packaged tech packages for the Optum tractors. They determine the functions for telematics and guidance. Always included now is a modem with lifelong mobile connectivity.
Instead of having to choose from a long list of options, Case IH now offers three new tech packages. All three packages include the touchscreen display and a bracket with connections for a second display. With each package level, more automation and more functions for guidance are added. The Advanced and Professional equipment lines are still available and can be combined with the packages.
All Optums come with lifelong telematics.
Just like other tractor manufacturers such as John Deere offer, now all Optum tractors come from the factory with a modem for telematics as standard. There are no additional fees for subscriptions or anything similar. Case drivers can use the telematics application from CNH named FieldOps, similar to John Deere's Operations Center or FendtOne Offboard. Farmers can access machine data, see the machine's location, or plan and document tasks and upcoming work. Case IH does not provide information on the pricing of the tech packages.
