An interesting grass direct seeding machine with slotted disc has been developed by the Spanish manufacturer Sola. The English dealer KRM is bringing the model to the market.
In England, the machinery dealer KRM and its seed drill supplier, the Spanish manufacturer Sola, have entered the market for direct seeding machines with disc coulters.
The pneumatic seed drill KRM Sola GS300 is primarily suitable for sowing grass seeds into existing grass sods or establishing new grass sods with minimal or no preparation.
With an optional 2,000-liter container for seed alone or for seed and fertilizer, the new seed drill also provides space for cereals and other field crops.
The mounted GS300 has a 300-liter pressure tank and two separate rows with 32 coulters each, each attached to the frame with rubber inserts and spaced 94 mm apart.
A wider row arrangement with 24 coulters spaced 125 mm apart is also available. In both cases, a weight transfer system can be used to facilitate surface work without additional ballasting the seed drill.
Each seed outlet is located next to a 400 mm large serrated disc coulter, which is arranged at a 5-degree angle to the direction of travel. The seed shoe is adjustable laterally and vertically to avoid wear.
The working depth from +3 cm to -13 cm can be changed in 5 mm increments by simply moving the washers on the arms carrying the cast prism roller.
Dosing in small quantities
A new dosing system, developed for dosing herb and multi-species mixtures as well as companion crops in small quantities, is powered by an electric motor and controlled through Sola's Performa system. This is operated via membrane buttons and a liquid crystal display.
The unit can also control the optional 2,000-liter single product container. However, for the split version with two dosing units and when attaching the MiniSeed container, an ISOBUS display is required. This would also provide functions for variable quantities, automatic on and off switching, and guidance.
Equipped with the 300-liter hopper, the Sola GS300 is available in England starting from €46,816.
