Agriculture: John Deere 500R self-propelled sprayer with more precision

John Deere introduces the 500R, a new self-propelled field sprayer - with precise application and a comfortable cab.

John Deere has introduced a new self-propelled field sprayer with the 500R series. According to the manufacturer, the machine was specifically designed to meet the needs of farmers in agriculture. A key feature is the improved visibility from the cabin to the spray boom, making it easier to monitor the application. At the same time, it offers a large platform between the tank and the cabin. The weight is evenly distributed on both axles, improving traction on fields and roads. For road transport, the vehicle remains compact with a width of 2.55 meters.

The cabin is equipped with a Cat.-4 filter and protects the driver from contact with plant protection products during spraying. Storage options such as armrest compartments and smartphone holders increase comfort. According to John Deere, features like Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto facilitate modern communication in daily work. The new G5Plus CommandCenter™ terminal offers a 35% larger screen area than previous models and operates significantly faster. In addition, an A-pillar display provides important machine data. The CommandArm has buttons grouped by functional areas for the engine, chassis, and lighting, and controls not only the central functions of the sprayer but also the speed and brakes.

The 500R remains under 2.55 meters in width on the road. The four wheel motors accelerate the self-propelled sprayer for quick maneuvering at 40 or 50 km/h (depending on the country).

The 500R utilizes the BoomTrac™ Pro 2 system with five height sensors and an IMU sensor to keep the boom stable even at high speeds. Two steel booms with 30 and 36 meters working width are offered. With the two-part folding, 15 or 18 meters are also possible. For application technology, John Deere relies on PowrSpray™ for consistent application rates even at highly variable speeds, especially when accelerating after turning at the headland. The pump system operates with two circuits and adjusts the application rate from minimum to maximum in less than three seconds. ExactApply™ allows precise control of nozzles with individual nozzle control and pulse width modulation. Automatic curve compensation is also offered. The technology enables up to eleven different application rates across the entire boom width based on application maps. According to John Deere, this achieves a spraying accuracy of up to 98%. The CommandDrive™ transmission automatically adjusts the engine speed. On the road, it reduces the engine to 1350 rpm and saves fuel.
