John Deere unveils new shredder: Machine convinces for four reasons.

John Deere introduces the completely redesigned forage harvester series F8 and F9. Especially the comfort cab is impressive.

John Deere introduces the completely redesigned forage harvester series F8 and F9. In addition to the usual high chopping quality, the models impress with a comfortable cabin, powerful engines, and intuitive operation.

The cabin is entirely new and has been adapted by the manufacturer from the combine models.

The new self-propelled forage harvesters F8 and F9 from John Deere set new standards in driver comfort. The cabin, known from the T and S series combines, offers excellent all-around visibility with its width, ergonomic layout, and large glass areas – from the attachment device to the discharge chute. The highlights of the new forage harvesters F8 and F9 from John Deere: 230° swiveling discharge chute, New steering system with a turning radius of only 6 m, ActiveSeat: rotatable by 16° to the left and right – optional as ActiveSeat II with massage, heating, and cooling functions as well as active suspension, Infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

For the first time, John Deere integrates the CommandPro joystick into its forage harvesters. Up to 11 freely assignable buttons enable individual machine control. In combination with the new G5/G5Plus CommandCenter touch display, machine operation becomes intuitive. Optional G5Plus additional monitor for double display area, Quick access and infographics in the corner post display, Integration of camera images.

The John Deere forage harvesters F8 and F9 are available in various power levels – ideal for a variety of operating conditions. Engine options in the F8 series: JD14X engine (known from X9 combines) with power ranging from 425 hp (F8 100) to 645 hp (F8 600) including HarvestMotion. Engine options in the F9 series: JD18X engine with 700–820 hp, without AdBlue, with HarvestMotion Plus, Liebherr V12 with 24.2 l displacement in the F9 900 and F9 1000 with up to 1020 hp including HarvestMotion.

John Deere integrates numerous assistance systems to make work easier: Ground Speed Automation: automatically adjusts speed and engine speed, Active Fill Control: uses a 3D camera system for automatic filling of the transport vehicle, ProTouch Harvest: automatic headland turning including AutoTrac, Ground Speed Automation, and more, AutoPath: optional for automatic row and field boundary guidance. These systems ensure higher work quality with less driver strain – even with frequent field changes.

The F8 and F9 models continue to rely on the familiar DuraDrum chopping rotor. The new Silage Additive System IDS 2.0 communicates with the HarvestLab sensor and ensures silage processing. Also available: Ultimate 250 grain processor – for high throughput, XStream 305 grain processor – for the highest grain reduction. The conversion of the grain processors has been simplified and can now be done without the need for a large service team. A first driving test with the John Deere F8 600 will be available in the upcoming issue of the traction magazine in July/August 2025.
