Krampe is expanding its program significantly for Agritechnica 2025. We spoke with managing director Robin Krampe about the addition of three-way tippers and silage trailers to the portfolio.
The vehicle manufacturer Krampe from Coesfeld in Münsterland is particularly known for its dump trailers, but also produces push-off trailers and hook lifts. Starting from Agritechnica 2025, the Radium silage transport trailer and the FlexBody three-way tipper will be added to the program. Robin Krampe provided insights into the history of these expansions.
At Agritechnica 2023, it was announced that Martin Reisch GmbH was insolvent. This caught the attention of Krampe. However, the conditions for an acquisition were not ideal as Reisch's two locations were far from Krampe's headquarters. Robin Krampe emphasizes the importance of short distances between different departments.
The vehicles themselves did not fit Krampe's requirements as they were mainly designed for manual production. "In recent years, we have invested heavily in the automated production of our vehicles. We have an automated laser system, press brake, and several welding robots," says Robin Krampe. "The manual production at Reisch does not align with our system."
However, the idea of a three-way tipper resonated well with Krampe. Krampe discussed the potential with many of its dealers (e.g., Baywa, RWZ, Agravis) and saw great opportunities. Development of their own three-way tippers began in March 2024. The manufacturer rented back its old site in Lette for final assembly.
Currently, Krampe is presenting the first prototypes. A pre-series will be produced for the grain harvest, with serial production scheduled to start in October 2025. "We will thoroughly test the vehicles and push them to their technical limits," says Robin Krampe. An EU type approval with a 60km/h rating is also on the agenda.
Krampe aims to launch a total of seven different models of three-way tippers at the market debut. These include a 6-ton single-axle with a 4m bridge length, tandem tippers with 12, 14, 18, and 20 tons total weight and lengths of 4.5 or 5m, as well as two pivot wagons with 8 and 18 tons total mass and lengths of 4.5 and 5m. A year later, Krampe plans to introduce another single-axle, four tandems, and three pivot variants, some with a length of 5.2m.
The equipment is currently limited, but the manufacturer is working to integrate features such as side panel lift springs, a grain slide, and hydraulic tailgate unlocking before serial production. The engineers have focused on a modular design for cost-effective and flexible production.
Krampe plans to produce approximately 800 to 950 three-way tippers per year in the long run.
Regarding the Radium silage transport trailer, the story is slightly different. Kotte Landtechnik purchased the rights to the silage technology and the silage transport trailers of the Kaweco brand from the Royal Reesink Group. Krampe expressed interest in the silage trailer rights from Kotte.
Since the Lower Saxony company did not want to build silage trailers themselves, the two companies quickly reached an agreement. The integration of these trailers into production was relatively easy for the company due to compatible drawings. Testing is currently underway with various chassis manufacturers to ensure EU type approval and facilitate European-wide marketing.
