The production of soft wheat within the EU is expected to significantly increase in 2025 following a below-average year and may even surpass the long-term average.

According to the EU Commission, it is estimated that around 127.3 million tons of soft wheat will be harvested in the EU in 2025, significantly more than the 112.5 million tons harvested the previous year.

France remains the largest wheat producer within the EU, with Germany following closely behind. Polish and Romanian producers also hold significant positions in wheat production.

The EU-wide maize production is expected to be approximately 65.3 million tons in 2025, representing a nearly 10% increase from the previous year.

The total EU barley harvest is currently estimated at around 52.2 million tons, a 5% increase from the previous year and 2.1% above the average.

The overall outlook for the EU grain harvest is promising, with recent rainfall improving conditions and advancing summer crop planting. Concerns about dryness have lessened, but it is important to monitor weather conditions leading up to the harvest.
