German Beef Imports Increase

Netherlands Largest Supplier

Germany imported a total of 3% more beef from January to February 2025 than in the same period a year earlier. Shipments from third countries increased by 4%, more than those from EU member states, which grew by 3%.

Prime Cuts Mostly from South America

Nevertheless, 87% of total imports came from EU countries. The country supplying the largest quantities remained the Netherlands with a market share of over a quarter of all deliveries. Poland and Austria followed in second and third place, respectively.

Prime Cuts Mostly from South America

For third countries, deliveries mainly came from South American countries. This primarily includes prime cuts like fillets from Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, commonly used in gastronomy. The relatively high price of beef limits consumer behavior, resulting in a slight increase in import demand despite production remaining relatively stable.
