Drought in Russia: Grain region particularly affected
In Russia, the main region for grain cultivation has been experiencing dry conditions for weeks. This is likely to result in lower yields and poorer quality than previously expected.
For the first time since the beginning of the year, milk deliveries in the EU-27 in April 2025 exceeded the previous year's month and were overall higher than expected.
In April, dairy farmers delivered 1.0% more milk to dairies than at the same time last year. This was reported by the ZMB. The increase was particularly pronounced in Ireland. In France, the previous year's level was also exceeded for the first time this year in April.
In Germany, the backlog compared to the previous year's level has significantly decreased. In the first four months of 2025, milk deliveries on average were 0.3% lower than in the same period last year.
