A Genius Idea
On the youtube.com channel of WDR Lokalzeit LandSchafft! from Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), a video shows how a farmer came up with a genius idea. In the 1990s, he invented a clever children's toy - made from corn! The creative farmer from Dorsten in Münsterland, North Rhine-Westphalia, found great success with "PlayMais", which made its way into countless children's rooms in Germany and worldwide. Behind this success story is farmer Hubert Loick. 30 years ago, he came up with a brilliant idea to produce packaging materials from his corn, explains WDR.
A Farmer turned Entrepreneur
However, it quickly evolved into something more. He started to make children's toys from the yellow kernels. It was important to him that everything came from his own cultivation and was biodegradable. The farmer turned into a successful entrepreneur with over 150 employees. He also diversified his business, including biogas plants. Hubert shares his journey with WDR Lokalzeit LandSchafft!
