Fast-food chain Taco Bell cancels expansion in Germany.

The Mexican-inspired fast food chain Taco Bell from the USA is unlikely to come to Germany. According to reports, plans for this have been cancelled.

The US-based fast-food chain Taco Bell, inspired by Mexican cuisine, is unlikely to come to Germany. Plans for its expansion have been cancelled, according to reports. Documents obtained by Wirtschaftswoche suggest that the US fast-food chain Taco Bell will not be coming to Germany after all. Originally, the plan was to open 25 branches in Germany by 2024, with a further expansion to a maximum of 150 by 2030. However, the launch of the franchise business in Germany has been repeatedly postponed. An entrepreneur with a controversial reputation was aiming to bring Taco Bell to Germany. Taco Bell, along with KFC and Pizza Hut, are part of the US-based Yum! Brands. The Germany license was granted to the IS Holding company owned by Ilkem Sahin, who already represents KFC and Pizza Hut in the country. Despite the US partner distancing themselves from Ilkem Sahin's company at the beginning of 2025 due to allegations of dubious business practices, unpaid suppliers, and misappropriation of funds, there are still extensive ties according to Wirtschaftswoche.
