According to a forecast by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), global milk production is expected to increase by 1.0% in 2025. The largest growth is expected in Asia, as reported by the ZMB.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) predicts a 1.0% increase in global milk production to 992.7 million tons in the calendar year 2025. This would be the second consecutive year with a slight increase.

Increases in Asia and America are expected.

The FAO expects the largest quantitative increases in Asia. While a decline is expected for China, growing herds and increased productivity in Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan are expected to compensate for this decline.

Milk production in the Americas is also expected to rise, especially in Brazil and Mexico. Production is also expected to recover in Argentina and the United States.

For Europe and Oceania, the FAO expects overall stable milk quantities, with developments likely to vary in individual countries. However, production is expected to decrease in Africa.

Global trade is expected to decrease.

Compared to the previous year, global trade in dairy products is expected to decrease by 0.8%. Only butter is expected to see a slight growth in the trade of individual dairy products.

While the FAO anticipates a recovery in imports in China, they expect declines in imports to Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. Larger deliveries from Iran, New Zealand, and Uruguay are expected to offset the low exports from the USA, Saudi Arabia, and the EU. The FAO also points out ongoing uncertainties in trade policy.
