One of the largest biomethane liquefaction plants in Germany enters regular operation. This provides various industries access to individual contract liquefaction.

With a liquefaction capacity of 65,700 tonnes of bio-LNG — equivalent to around 1 TWh — Erdgas Südwest Bio-LNG GmbH now enables customers to liquefy their gas and produce bio-LNG or LNG.
The company's new biomethane liquefaction plant in Ettlingen has successfully commenced regular operations.

The liquefaction is particularly interesting for biomethane producers or traders, as bio-LNG provides a profitable marketing opportunity outside of the classical EEG generation. Through the contract liquefaction model, the THG quota remains owned by the companies and can be marketed by them, the company explains.

Advantages also for industrial customers and municipalities

Besides gas station operators, industrial customers or municipalities can also benefit - if a direct supply of bio-LNG or LNG is desired, it can be provided through the EnBW group's network.

Four tanks with a total storage capacity of 540 t and two loading stations on the plant premises provide flexibility; the convenient geographical location with access to the A7 motorway and the MIDAL pipeline is a central advantage. The location in the middle of Germany reduces driving distances and saves transport costs for the recipients of the produced bio-LNG or LNG.
