Europe's largest PVT system goes into operation

The PVT manufacturer Sunmaxx has delivered over 1,130 photovoltaic-thermal hybrid modules for the construction of the Vienna Sports Arena in recent months.

Sunmaxx, a manufacturer of photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) systems, has delivered over 1,130 PVT hybrid modules for the construction of the Sportarena Wien in recent months.

Located at the site of the former Ferry-Dusika-Hallenstadion, a new sports facility will soon be inaugurated, setting new standards in terms of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Integral to the energy supply are the 1,130 PVT hybrid modules supplied by Sunmaxx, a company based in Saxony. The installation and planning of the system were carried out in collaboration with Sunmaxx's partner companies, Wagner Solar GmbH and Fortuna Solar eG.

The main advantage of Sunmaxx's PVT hybrid technology is its ability to combine photovoltaics and solar thermal energy in a highly efficient system. This allows for largely self-sufficient, carbon-neutral, and cost-effective electricity and heat generation for various applications.

Utilizing Sunmaxx's specially developed heat exchanger technology, the PVT modules produce electricity and heat simultaneously at maximum efficiency and output, using both solar irradiation and ambient air as energy sources.

The realization of this project highlights the widespread adoption of PVT technology. The Sportarena Wien demonstrates how complete decarbonization of buildings can be achieved through the use of PVT and geothermal energy, according to Sunmaxx.
